Surprise Maine Proposal at Portland Headlight: Sparrow Maine Engagement Photographer

I just finished watching “ My Octopus Teacher” on Netflix—I cried so hard. Im a huge fan of love and authenticity, I think that’s why I love to photograph surprise proposals! There is something so magical and raw about capturing the moment of surprise and those tears—tears that only a deep love can bring.

This proposal was one of those magical moments. Justin contacted me in August to plan a surprise engagement session for his girlfriend Savannah.

On a beautiful fall evening I staged a family photo shoot at Portland headlight with my husband and daughter. As Justin walked by with Savannah, I could see how visibly nervous he was—but I was so very excited for him.

As we previously planned, he walked Savannah down and around Portland headlight and then back by my ‘photo shoot’ location. He asked her to take a photo of lighthouse and while her back was turned away, he got down on one his knee to propose. I was there to catch it all.

She cried. I cried. She said “Yes!” They laughed. And then I introduced myself and we went off on a little adventure session to celebrate their engagement.

I love to help bring these proposals to life. If you are thinking about proposing in Maine, I would love to be your Photographer. Let’s chat.

Love in the Time of Covid: A Change in Wedding Plans Creates a Magical Backyard Wedding That Transports to Scotland

Like so many couples who planned to wed this year, Covid completely altered Jarad and Zoë’s special day. They had originally planned a large Maine destination wedding in late spring, when those plans evaporated because of travel restrictions and gathering limits, they moved the date and planed the sweetest backyard micro wedding.

In the midst of chaos and confusion, love reigns, miracles are born, and the most unexpected beauty is made visible when we look closer, with appreciation for the simple. While it may not have been their original venue, this backyard wedding was stunning.
